KDA President Dr. Kahura Mundia appeared on NTV Kenya’s Fixing the Nation to sound the alarm on a growing public-health threat: unqualified and unlicensed persons offering dental treatment to unsuspecting Kenyans.
In the interview, Dr. Mundia explains how “quack” dental practice puts patients at serious risk — from botched procedures and untreated infections to the transmission of disease through unsterilised instruments — and why every Kenyan has the right to be treated only by a dentist registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
He urges the public to verify their dentist’s registration before any treatment, and points to the Association’s work — including the new Find a Dentist directory of verified dental facilities — as tools to help patients stay safe.
- Confirm your dentist is registered and licensed by the KMPDC.
- Insist on a licensed facility — ask to see the practising licence.
- Report suspected quacks to the KMPDC and the Kenya Dental Association.
