Join the KDA Mentorship Programme and learn from Kenya's leading dental professionals.
Why Seek Mentorship?
The transition from dental school to confident clinical practice takes more than textbooks. The KDA Mentee Programme connects you with a verified, experienced dental professional who provides structured guidance, clinical insight, and career perspective tailored specifically to you.
Unlike informal networking, this is a tracked, goal-driven programme with a digital workspace for both parties. Every session, review, and achievement is recorded — and at the end you hold a KDA-issued Completion Certificate documenting your professional development.
Mentee Registration — Step by Step
The registration wizard takes less than 10 minutes. Each step saves independently — you can return to update your profile at any time via Edit Profile on the Mentorship Hub landing card.
1
Verify KDA Membership — The programme is exclusive to KDA members (including Student and Intern members). Confirm your membership at the KDA Membership Portal.
2
Log in to the Portal — Visit the KDA Members Portal and sign in with your registered email.
3
Open the Mentorship Hub — Click Mentorship Hub in the left sidebar. If you are not yet registered as a mentee, a Register as a Mentee button appears on your hub card.
The 6-Step Registration Wizard
Step 1 — Bio
Your professional background, current role, and why you are seeking mentorship. Tick Available for Menteeship to activate matching.
Step 2 — Availability
Add your free time slots: day of week, start time, end time, and city. Adding more slots significantly improves your chances of a good match.
Step 3 — Specialty
Your area of dental practice or the specialty you are training in (e.g. Endodontics, Orthodontics, General Dentistry). Multiple selections allowed.
Step 4 — Interests
Topics you want guidance on — Research, Clinical Skills, Business of Practice, Ethics, Career Planning, etc.
Step 5 — Certifications
Qualifications you hold or are actively pursuing.
Step 6 — Languages
Languages you are comfortable communicating in — used to ensure a shared language with your mentor.
After step 6 your profile is active and a Join Certificate is generated. A Request a Mentor button appears on your Mentee Hub to trigger the auto-matching algorithm.
How Matching Works
Click Request a Mentor on your Mentee Hub. The system instantly scores every available mentor in the association and assigns the best match — no manual application or waiting period.
Availability & City
The primary criterion. Mentors in your city with overlapping time slots score highest. Adding more availability slots gives the algorithm more to work with.
Specialty Match
Mentors who share your selected dental specialty add to the match score.
Professional Interests
Mentors who can guide you in your chosen interest areas (Research, Clinical, Business, etc.) score additional points.
Certifications
Mentors with qualifications overlapping yours or your target qualifications contribute a certification bonus.
Languages
Sharing at least one language adds a communication-compatibility bonus to the score.
If no mentor is found on the first request, broaden your availability or add more specialties and interests, then try again. New mentors join the programme regularly. If the problem persists, the KDA Secretariat can arrange a manual match.
Your Mentee Dashboard — What You'll Do
Once matched, your Mentee Hub shows a card for your mentor with all programme tools in one place.
🎯
Set SMART Goals
Create one or more structured goals using the SMART framework — Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound. Each goal gets its own progress bar and activity log. Completing a goal unlocks a Goal Achievement Certificate.
📈
Log Progress on Your Goals
After each session or milestone, record a progress update with a description, drag the percentage slider (0–100%) and add optional notes. The goal's progress bar updates in real time. All entries are stored in the Progress Log on each goal card. Once a goal is marked Completed, the progress log becomes read-only — entries cannot be added, edited, or deleted.
📝
Create & Manage Sessions
The Schedule New Session form sits at the top of the Sessions section. Fill in date/time and agenda — the new session card appears instantly without a page reload. You can also add your personal notes to each existing session card. Both your notes and the mentor's notes are visible to both parties.
📓
Write Session Reviews
After each session, add a structured review: your self-assessed progress report, what your mentor has observed, challenges encountered, and adjustments you will make. Reviews are collapsed by default in the session card — click Session Reviews to expand them.
📋
Create & Complete Evaluations
The New Evaluation form appears at the top of the Evaluations section. You can create multiple evaluations across the programme — for mid-programme check-ins or to formally close the cycle. Each evaluation includes a written reflection on your growth and key learnings, plus a 5-question Mentee Evaluation Survey covering your overall rating, skills acquired, guidance quality, session frequency, and suggestions for improvement. Your mentor completes a parallel survey and can mark an evaluation as Completed to unlock the Completion Certificate for both parties.
