Share your expertise. Build a lasting legacy within the KDA Mentorship Programme.
What It Means to Be a KDA Mentor
As a KDA Mentor you take on a structured, active role in a named mentee's professional development. This is not an informal advisory relationship — the programme provides a digital workspace where you schedule sessions, record feedback, track your mentee's SMART goals, write session reviews, and formally close the programme through a final evaluation.
Mentors must be KDA members in good standing. Students, interns, and early-career dentists looking for guidance register as Mentees — the same portal supports both roles simultaneously.
Mentor Registration — Step by Step
Registration takes less than 10 minutes. Each step saves independently — you can return to update your profile at any time via Edit Profile on the Mentorship Hub landing card.
1
Verify KDA Membership — Ensure your membership is active at the KDA Membership Portal. Mentors must be current members.
2
Log in to the Portal — Visit the KDA Members Portal and sign in with your registered email.
3
Open the Mentorship Hub — Click Mentorship Hub in the left sidebar. If you are not yet registered as a mentor, a Register as a Mentor button appears on your hub card.
The 6-Step Wizard
Step 1 — Bio
Your professional background, years of experience, and areas of expertise. Tick Available for Mentorship to activate matching.
Step 2 — Availability
Add day-of-week, start time, end time, and city for each available slot. More slots improve matching chances.
Step 3 — Specialty
The dental specialties you can mentor in (e.g. Endodontist, Periodontist, General Dentist). Multiple selections allowed.
Step 4 — Interests
Professional areas you are willing to guide mentees in — Research, Clinical Skills, Business, Ethics, etc.
Step 5 — Certifications
Post-graduate qualifications and specialist titles you hold.
Step 6 — Languages
Languages you are comfortable conducting mentorship sessions in.
After step 6 your profile is active. A personalised Join Certificate (PDF with QR code) is generated immediately and available from the Mentorship Hub landing card.
How the Matching Algorithm Works
When a mentee clicks Request a Mentor, the system automatically scores all available mentors using five criteria. You will be matched to the mentee whose profile best aligns with yours — no manual application needed.
Availability & City
The primary criterion. Mentees in your city whose available time slots overlap with yours score highest.
Specialty Match
Each shared dental specialty between you and the mentee adds to the score.
Shared post-graduate qualifications or specialist titles contribute a certification bonus.
Languages
At least one shared language adds a communication-compatibility bonus to the score.
Your Mentor Dashboard — What You'll Do
After being matched, your Mentor Hub shows a card for each active mentee. Every action you take is recorded and visible to both parties.
📅
Schedule Sessions
The Schedule New Session form sits at the top of the Sessions section. Enter the date, time, and agenda and click Create Session — the new numbered card appears instantly without a page reload. Sessions appear as numbered cards (# 1, # 2…) on both your hub and the mentee's hub.
✏️
Record Notes, Feedback & Action Items
For each session, fill in three separate fields: your private mentor notes, constructive feedback written for the mentee, and specific action items they should complete before the next session. Each saves independently.
📝
Write Session Reviews
After each session, submit a structured review covering: your progress report on the mentee, the mentee's self-reported progress, challenges encountered, and adjustments recommended for the next cycle. Reviews build a longitudinal record of development.
✅
Mark Sessions as Completed
Only mentors can change a session's status from Pending to Completed. This feeds the session count on both dashboards.
📋
Create & Complete Evaluations
The New Evaluation form sits at the top of the Evaluations section. A match can have multiple evaluations — one per programme cycle or mid-programme check-in. Write your feedback on the mentee's growth and complete the 5-question Mentor Evaluation Survey. Tick Mark as Completed when saving to formally close that cycle — this unlocks the Completion Certificate for both parties.
Certificates You Will Receive
🏅 Join Certificate
Issued when your mentor profile is activated. Available immediately from the Mentorship Hub landing card. Includes a unique QR code.
🎓 Completion Certificate
Issued to you (and your mentee) once an evaluation is marked Completed. Appears inside the match card on your Mentor Hub.
The Mentor Advantage
